FAQ: The Elemental Collection: A Dice Series by Wyrmwood & Dispel
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

The Elemental Collection is a “limited edition” - what does this mean, exactly? Am I restricted in what I can order? Are a limited quantity being made available?

The Elemental Collection is being offered in this campaign, and will be produced in one continuous production run. The production will include all demand from the finalized pledge manager orders, as well as any pre-orders (if offered). There is no limit to the amount of items anyone can order, nor is there a limit to the amount of backers.

However, once the fulfillment concludes, and the dice and Dice Vaults from the Elemental Collection are all made and shipped, none of these items will ever be produced again.

We may have a small amount of overstock from the fulfillment, since it’s standard to produce more than necessary in case of defects, replacements and other potential issues, and we reserve the right to sell this overstock at conventions or on our website. But there is no guarantee any particular items will be available, and no additional product will be made beyond the fulfillment production run.

In short: once the production stops, it stops for good, so if you want something you see here… now’s the time to get it!

This campaign is themed around Christmas, but the earliest fulfillment tier is in May. What if I want to give these as a gift this year?

We hear you! It takes time to create these items, and they don’t exist yet. But that doesn’t mean you’re left out in the cold with nothing to give your friends and loved ones. We’ve put together a tool you can use to generate a customized stocking stuffer card. You can email or print it out, and give it to your intended recipient to let them know what they have to look forward to… while proving that you did, in fact, get them a sweet gift! See the campaign page to access the tool.

I'm new to Dispel. What’s the difference between the Iconic and Iridescent dice? What makes each special?

Dispel Dice are slightly oversized, highly readable polyhedral dice, crafted in resin and left sharp-edged. Dispel has become one of the most respected names in dice, making creative, unique designs you can find nowhere else, and marrying it to top quality craftsmanship. With beautiful inclusions hand-picked both to enhance the appearance and emphasize the theme of each set, the dice here include special touches which segment the offerings into two lines, each of which contains 6 sets, one for each element:

Iconic Dice feature illustrations on the interior of each die, further emphasizing the theme in a striking, evocative way. It’s a novel, spellbinding design that’s sure to make everyone at the table want a closer look… which, like nature itself, may uncover hidden wonders…

Iridescent Dice feature a subtle, shimmering coating on the exterior of the die, leading to a rainbow hued effect that shifts depending on your angle of view. It’s reminiscent of the Northern Lights, or gemstones such as Alexandrite and Opal - natural wonders that inspire awe and capture our fascination.

I'm new to Wyrmwood. What are Dice Vaults, and what's the difference between the Cherry and Ebony versions?

10 years ago, Wyrmwood released the original Dice Vault, changing the way gamers think about dice storage, and went on to become the market leader in luxury tabletop gaming. The design has been refined through the years, and is available here in two thoughtfully selected configurations, each of which contains 6 Dice Vaults, one for each element:

Each Cherry Dice Vault is carefully engraved with an original work of art inspired by the element it represents. They are perfectly suitable for use with any standard set of dice, however they are specifically designed to complement and enhance the corresponding sets from the Elemental Collection.

The Inlaid Ebony Dice Vault represents the marriage of exotic woods with the same original artwork on the Cherry Vault, rendered in full color and inlaid with a mixture of materials to bring the design to vibrant life. Ebony, a historically prized rare timber, is synonymous with luxury, and these Dice Vaults are truly a statement piece like no other.

When will my card be charged? Can I change my pledge?

Your pledge is a placeholder, and is not final until the campaign ends. After pledging, you are free to adjust it whenever you like by clicking the button at the top of the campaign page. However, once the campaign closes on December 25th, your pledge will be locked in and your payment method charged. You’ll have to wait until the pledge manager opens to add to your pledge after that point.

How do I choose the specific items I want? How will you know what I'm pledging for?

In this project, the reward tier minimum is set to the price of a single Iridescent d20. If you’d like to pledge for something else, you can adjust your pledge total accordingly. Regardless of what you’d like to pledge for, your choices need not be final now. Once the pledge manager opens up, you’ll be able to select what specific items you pledged for and confirm your order. You can also add more items to your order, and pay for any outstanding balance.

Last updated: December 14, 2022 11:13

Are you using any kind of pledge manager after the campaign? When will it open up?

We are using a pledge manager, and we expect to open it up 2 weeks after the campaign concludes. We’ll provide further details on this process in campaign updates. We can tell you, though, that you’ll use the pledge manager to confirm your order, address, and pay for your final shipping and any taxes due. You will also be able to add items to your order beyond what you’d planned on in the campaign, if desired.

Last updated: December 14, 2022 11:13

When will my pledge be charged? When will the pledge manager be locked and charged?

There are two points at which payment will be collected. First will be on December 25th, when the campaign ends. Whatever amount you have pledged on Kickstarter will be collected at that time. Roughly two weeks after that, around January 9th, we will be opening up the survey to backers. Here, you’ll select your items and apply the funds you pledged in the campaign to an actual order. At this time, you’ll be able to add more items to your order, if desired. We’ll leave the manager open for a period of several weeks, locking and charging all balances on all orders at that time, including shipping and taxes. The planned date of lockdown and charge for the pledge manager is tentatively set to February 1st, 2023. This will be the date all waves are locking and charging - waves will not have separate charge dates. If you have further questions or concerns regarding payment, please reach out to us via direct message on Kickstarter and we’ll be happy to help.

Note that the above dates are subject to change. The final dates will be provided via Kickstarter updates.

Why aren't shipping charges included in the reward cost? Is it free?

Since every pledge can be for any combination of the many items available in this campaign, shipping will need to be calculated for each order, and isn’t going to be a “one size fits all” flat rate. We’ve provided shipping estimates on the page that give you an idea of what to expect, but final shipping charges will be calculated and assessed in the pledge manager after the campaign concludes.

Last updated: December 16, 2022 09:15

Will I be responsible for customs or VAT charges?

Backers outside of the United States incur additional fees and/or taxes on purchases made outside of their country, including pledges to this campaign. Any of these charges applicable to your order will be assessed and collected in the pledge manager after the campaign concludes. This way, you’ll receive your order like any other shipment, with no surprise bills from your local customs office, and no hassle. International backers, please take these fees into account when pledging, as you will be responsible for them in the pledge manager. We appreciate your understanding!

I have a WyrmwoodGaming.com or DispelDice.com gift certificate. Can I use it in this Kickstarter?

Yes! However, there’s a slight catch. You can definitely have the balance of that gift certificate applied to your pledge, but we can only do it in the pledge manager after the campaign. It won’t work here on Kickstarter. If you’re pledging the total amount of your order on Kickstarter, remember to take this into account. For example, if your desired items come to $250, and you have a $50 gift certificate, pledge only $200. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us here via direct message.

Where are my rewards being shipped from?

All rewards will ship together, from Wyrmwood’s Massachusetts campus.

Last updated: December 16, 2022 09:15

Will the items I receive look like the ones on the page?

The items shown on the campaign page are fully representative of the final product. All materials and production methods have been determined, and the way these prototypes were produced is the same way the final products will be made. Therefore, you should not expect significant changes in any colorways.

Of course, items will not be identical - there will be variations in the wood grain, shade, placement of inclusions and iconography, etc. But you can depend on these photos to give a very accurate representation of the final product - because they are the final product!

Why are some of the Dispel Dice inked in multiple colors? Can this be changed?

Some Dispel Dice colorways in this project feature high numbers on each die inked in a different color. This was for additional impact when rolling high, to make an exciting moment in-game even better.

As with the other inking and color choices in this campaign, these are a deliberate aspect of each colorway, and not subject to alteration or customization.

How does the bonus Dark Matter d20/set offer work? Can I purchase this set separately?

The Dark Matter colorway is exclusively available in this project for those with a total order of $140 or greater (excluding shipping and taxes). If you spend over $140 but less than $500, you will receive a single Dark Matter d20. If you spend over $500, you will receive a Dark Matter polyhedral set of 7 dice. The Dark Matter colorway items are limited to one per order, as a commemorative item, and they will not be available for purchase separately.

Last updated: December 16, 2022 09:15

Are Dispel Dice standard size?

Dispel Dice are slightly larger than standard (16mm) size, which not only gives them a more substantial feel, but better showcases the intricate details and inclusions present within them.

Last updated: December 16, 2022 09:15

How many Dispel Dice fit in the Dice Vault and Tabletop Vault?

The Dice Vault (the long, rectangular form factor) holds a full set of 7 Dispel Dice, plus an extra d20 if desired. The Tabletop Vault (hexagonal form factor) holds a full set of 7 Dispel Dice, plus 3d6.

Do I have to pledge $140 on Kickstarter to get a Dark Matter d20? Dark Matter rewards "stack" if we spend multiples of the necessary amounts?

The Dark Matter bonus qualification will take into account your full order, after the pledge manager is locked, before shipping and taxes. The bonuses are one-per-order, and do not “stack” - if you spend between $140 and $499 on items in your order, you will receive a Dark Matter d20 with your order. If you spend $500+ on items, you will receive a full set of Dark Matter dice with your order. Note that you won’t see this in your cart, as it will be added after orders are locked.

Can I get a custom engraving on my Dice Vault?

Unfortunately, no, we will not be able to offer custom text engravings on Dice Vaults in this campaign fulfillment. The reason for this is mostly to do with the volume of our reward levels; we can produce the Dice Vaults in these numbers, but customizing each one will bog down fulfillment too much to be feasible with the deadlines we’ve set. If you’re interested in a Dice Vault with a custom engraving, you can always order one on WyrmwoodGaming.com.

Last updated: December 16, 2022 09:15

Can I split up a set - like 3d6 with each d6 as a different element, or a mixed set of 7?

No, this will not be possible. We’ll be producing these dice and packaging them all in the configurations offered, and we do not have pricing for individual d6 or other dice, other than d20s. The only option would be split up products after they were produced, packaged and delivered to us, and this would add a great deal of time, as well as leaving us with partial items that we could not sell. Similarly to custom engravings, this would slow down fulfillment significantly, as well as adding labor costs that we would need to account for, so this falls outside of the scope of the project.

If you’re interested in a mixed set representing all of the elements, we recommend a selection of d20s; a set of all 6 Iconic d20 dice will come to $150 in total, which would qualify for the bonus Dark Matter d20. A full set of 6 Iridescent d20 dice would come to $120, which would not qualify for the bonus Dark Matter d20. However, the addition of any set of 3d6 or a Dice Vault to the order would cross that threshold - and in the case of the Dice Vault, it would also give you a much more attractive way to store your Elemental d20 collection! :)

I have a question not listed here.

Thank you for checking the FAQ! If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Click on our bio near the top of the campaign page, and then click “contact me” to send us a direct message. We’ll do our best to reply to messages in the comments section of the project, but this section moves quickly, and sometimes we don’t see a question in time, so direct messages are usually the best bet.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
